I am attempting to organize my electronics part and supplies from a heap to ..... something better.
I am planning on storing BJT and JFET in #3 coin envelops. Any one had any static problems with these devices that would make one think the paper envelops would be a bad idea.
Also how do you store truly static sensitive parts like MOSFETs?
cheers,

Well, DON'T use that black semi-conductive foam. I have no idea what
it's made of, but it eventually eats the gold flashing off RF
transistors.

semiconductors, save the silver plastic they come in. I have an impulse
sealer with a cutter.
You could also use aluminum foil.

I used some in the mid to late 70's and they completely dissolved IC pins. Turned DIPs into SMDs! As I recall the later black foam from the 80's4876 2010-08-10 05:53:40 Bob Re: Packing components Hi Rich -
I've used HUNDREDS of coin envelopes to store THOUSANDS of active components for DECADES and never experienced any ESD problems - this contrary to contemporary belief. In fact, I just recently purchased another box of 500 envelopes - this having used up an earlier box of 500! I don't know what number mine are, but the measure 3 /1/8" X 5 1/2" and nicely fit plastic "shoe boxes".
