Roger-

A number of other groups have also noted a decline in activity--probably a natural consequence of kids being out of school and vacations taking place. I was hoping to hear some stories about Dayton and "Four Days in May" but maybe no group members were in attendance. I think it way too early for concern--thinks will heat up again once the solder starts melting.

Hi Phil.

Yeah, same here actually....lots of yard work and trails to hike, now that the Oregon weather is finally drying out for the summer month....

Roger-

You have created a great group and it's one of my favorites. Since joining, I have built your power meter, and your cascode IF amp, the W7ZOI spectrum analyzer, Scotty's spectrum analyzer, the DG8SAQ VNWA and N2PK's also excellent VNA. And there have been countless filters using your dad's excellent Ladpro software and I've even built a version of his excellent 14Mhz receiver in the carcass of an old ARC-5 receiver.

The amateur community has greatly benefited the efforts of all involved and I will continue to experiment and ask questions from the membership. Please keep this thing going, it's a tremendous resource.

Dit dit dit dah.

Hi group.  A couple of people were concerned that Yahoo! may have stopped posting our messages, so it seemed appropriate to ping the group and say hello.

I'm spending some time most evenings toiling over the best way to describe electro magnetic theory to kids who are supposed to know it better than myself, hi.

Not to start a huge conversation here, but the group moderators haven't been very happy with all of the "improvements" made at Yahoo! groups.  We're contemplating on a way to remedy the situation.  And yes, I know I need to update the basket-weave photo some day.

73 for now,

You are describing the VHF contest situation in Oregon Farhan!

Actually it is a little worse than that.  Now that we have no code opportunities, it is fun to get on 2m CW during a contest and have the person on the other end not know what to do.  Usually a third party will jump in and relay everything for the guy......as if the contact will count now!

73 for now.  Glad to see yahoo groups is still working for everyone.

Yahoo is at it again; I can view this and other messages sequentially when in Messages mode but, when I change to Topics mode, I get a list of topics from 2010.

This behaviour only began a couple of days ago.

Truly, if Yahoo keeps spoiling its Groups with weird changes it will destroy them.

Kerry,

I was seeing the same thing. If you look to the right of the Topics/Messages/Trending tab buttons you'll see the View drop-down. Click on that and pick Message History. That brings up a pop-up window showing a calendar of the message totals for each month, just like we used to see on the EMRFD main page. Click the Oct 2013 box and you're back in business. Click View again to choose how you want the messages sorted.

Of course I can't explain how our views got set to 2010 or how we didn't know what the View menu was for, but I'm glad I located the message calendar. I know some people complained that it was missing in NEO but it seems it was just cleverly hidden.

Thanks John.

That works but it doesn't "stick"; when I connect to the Group using my Favourites it shows the 2010 messages again and I have to go through the process you described yet again.

I tried circumventing this NEO nonsense with a Firefox plug-in but that no longer works; I suppose the Yahoo people have got around that.

I also tried getting individual e-mails but I don't like my Inbox cluttered-up; I am a member of about half-a-dozen groups..

Why, oh why, couldn't they leave the confounded thing alone?  It wasn't broke and didn't need fixing!

Kerry VK2TIL.

9302 2013-10-31 07:07:54 John Marshall Re: Test Message
You're right Kerry, it doesn't stick for me either, and it reverts back to Messages mode rather than Topics. One strange aspect of this problem is that so far, I only see it in EMRFD. Choosing Topics in several other groups I tried showed the most recent topics.

I switched to individual emails for this group as a workaround for NEO problems but we shouldn't need workarounds. NEO is not the ONE.

Generally I find the web based version has gone severely negative in user acceptance and
usability. Groups I frequent have seen a significant drop in activity.
what really sucks is they are now putting advertising inline with "conversations".
Its getting near time to move on. This format experiment is failing.

This Group has become almost unuseable for me.

Something changed in the last hour or so.

Now, when I use the EMRFD button in the Bookmarks bar of Firefox, I see this;

(Don't mind the green screen, I like it that way)

http://i39.tinypic.com/2a0b81y.jpg

If I click on Michael's message, the second message under Ray's message, I get this;

http://i39.tinypic.com/2ntfok5.jpg

I would expect to see Michael's message of Nov 3 but I see a message dated 23 Jun 2010 from Phil!

I hit the Back button of Firefox and see this;

http://i39.tinypic.com/21obkm9.jpg

Still the 2010 message from Phil but in a different-looking setting.

Hit the Back button again and I return to the view shown in the first link above.

How on earth could supposedly-intelligent programmers make such a hash of a system that was working fine?

Blame it all on yaboo and the NSU :-)
Except when directly addressing the above,
we should, of course, remain prim ...

I first read all postings in OE. Most messages
show as they should; but some are a blank pane
and only show when I click to forward or open
as an attachment.

When I want to go back over a group thread, it can
get annoying, but I can usually find what I am
looking for - eventually...

Conspiracy theory : could it be that "they"
intentionally confound us in the hope that we will
transfer all traffic to the newyaboo, which,
presumably, is consistent within its own
confines ???

The alternative deduction would be incompetence.
But that is, surely, unthinkable...
