RF chokes are designed to provide a high impedance path to RF and are consequently lossy while tuned inductors and transformers are typically high Q (I hope I got that right) so exactly what goes on with a peaking coil?

Low Q is ok because the peaking effect is usually
needed to be very broad, so there is lots of resistive load across the coil.3918 2009-12-23 20:36:37 ajparent1 Re: Peaking Coils 3919 2009-12-23 21:45:24 Lou Burke Re: Peaking Coils Phil,
I think it depends on the application......the higher the Q the sharper the tuning and less bandwidth. In some applications you want a low Q tuning system.
