Does anyone know of a good place, paper, etc that discuss why one
material should be used in a certain application over another?

be able to find Z vs. f graphs. Start with ceramics. Then, look for
companies that make caps (ceramic & otherwise) specifically for RF
use. Compare.

and he allowed the GQRP club to make a downloadable datasheet from his book
material.
Go to www.gqrp.com and look for "sprat" in the menu and you will see the
link to the datasheets.
