I would like to design an amplifier to cover 1.8 to 450 MHz with at least 500 mW output with 50 ohm input and output.

I didn't know what exactly they were but they looked interesting and didn't cost a lot (because, I suppose, no-one else knew what they were either). Subsequent research showed that they are interesting devices. Go to the Polyfet site; http://www.polyfet.com/ Go to Application Notes-Num. Order and go to "tb102"; that might assist you. I may try this circuit one day; there are other projects higher on the list, though. The Polyfet site is an interesting browse; they make some nice devices and their application notes are good reading.
