The new HTML messages make it difficult to save portions or the whole EMRFD
digest.
I thought newsgroups were supposed to be text only. What happened in the
last couple of
digests to make everything in HTML? I would much prefer text only. Is there
a way to go
back to text only please?

Also, I can't reply to a Web Post or reply to Group. Strange.

Henry;
Yahoo does not allow many options especially with this new groups.. As
long as groups are done here at yahoo.. the mails back and forth in
digests or otherwise are all html..

I liked the old groups better... so did many others.. but it did not
give Yahoo the necessary advertising space they desire.

I receive all via Outlook Express as HTML, but can then pretend to
forward and then select "text" as format, which allows me to choose
how to edit, print and save.

I am sending this so modified as plain text.

I don't understand the part of your post that talks about giving Yahoo the necessary advertising space they desire because the only advertisement I see in the Digests I get is the YAHOO!groups logo.  I don't see any other advertisement.  So where do they come out ahead?

I tried sending a message to both [2]emrfd-traditional@yahoogroups.com and
emrfd-traditional@yahoogroups.com

The emrfd-traditional@yahoogroups.com came back and I replied so I'll see tomorrow if I get the traditional form of the Digest.

Your email address had  emfrd instead of emrfd and nothing worked untill I got that strait.

Thanks for the information.  I hope it works.

Regarding the ads, I'm not happy about them either, but on the other hand I don't have to pay for Yahoo's, or Google's, or Whomever's service. I suppose they have to make money somehow or they'd either have to shut the services down or charge users for the service. I've spent the last 56 years ignoring (or muting) advertisements. I suppose I'm not any worse for the wear.

Hello all,

In addition to Anthony's mail regarding changing Yahoogroups settings, I
have done this as well on behalf of this advise;

>>>
If anyone is having problems with the html default that Yahoo now seems to
have inflicted on us with all their recent changes, the easiest way to set
the default to plain text is by sending a blank e-mail with a blank
subject
line to the following address:

emrfd-traditional@yahoogroups.com

You should then receive an e-mail from the server asking you to 'reply' to
it to confirm that you wish to change it (this setting is no longer
available
from your Yahoogroups settings page, and this is the only way that you can
now change it).

This works for all the other groups too, just change the group name to
whatever
one you want to change and it should work. You now have to do each of the
groups
that you are subscribed to individually, there doesn't seem to be a way
of changing
them all at once as their was before.

For those who would like the text only version of EMRFD, Anthony's suggestion
works like a charm.

Send an email to emrfd-traditional@yahoogroups.com You will get an email
back to confirm
that you really want the traditional email form. You must answer that email.
Be sure to use the
email address in this paragraph.

This morning I got my EMRFD digest in text only format. Whoopee!!!!

Thank you Anthony.
