I've got a bag of 3N204s that didn't cost very much (eBay, maybe a decade
ago). I'm experimenting with an old-school AM broadcast receiver concept,
and I have some Hycas PCBs.

On a wild whim, I've just cut the traces for the gate and source leads
on the J310s, so I can switch them. 3N204s will solder right in the
PCB (with gate 1 and source swapped). I'll use the same basic bias
circuit and AGC circuit (though I'm omitting the differential PNP
stage and tacking-on emitter-follower AM detectors for audio and AGC).

Converting a hybrid cascode circuit back into a full cascode MOSFET
circuit. I hope it's stable when I'm done :-)
