For those of you who are participating on this year's ARRL annual
auction there is a copy of SSDRA listed.

Bid often and bid high! No financial relation to me, I've already
got a copy!

Interesting observations, Tim. Yes, technology is a wonderful thing,
and EMRFD has that all over SSD.

You may have heard that our continued understanding depends on the
previous work of others, that often we literally "stand on the shoulders
of giants." Well, SSD is the giant that EMRFD stands on.

And, who knows, maybe the info contained in SSD might help someone
better understand those kind of parts substitution issues that you
experienced.

In any case, if you're looking to build a complete amateur RF design
library, SSD is a no brainer, IMHO. You could look at it as a kind of
Rosetta Stone in advancing amateur RF design.

Or not.

BTW, I've also been collecting a few of the Terman references for this
reason (thanks, Chris). It seems I'm constantly looking for needed
informati

i keep SSD in particular for it's handling of power amplifier design note.
emrfd is a bit skimpy on this in terms of formulae and network design.

This classic book is the predecessor to EMRFD and was written by Wes and the late Doug DeMaw. It is one of my favorite technical books, and used copies are often listed at prices around $100.00.

The ARRL auction is offering two copies of the book at starting prices of $15.00 and $7.50. Might be worth a bid if you are so inclined. Other books are also being auctioned.

Solid State Design for the Radio Amateur, 1977, was considered by many as the homebrewer's bible before EMRFD.  I somehow ended up with two copies and would be willing to let one go for a reasonable price. Even though they were put on the market in 1977 for $7.00 retail price (can you believe it) Amazon still sells them. Presently Amazon has used ones for $40.00 and new ones for well over $100.00.  If anyone wants my extra copy I'd be willing to let i go for about $25.00 + shipping or any reasonable offer. One of them is in "like new" condition and I'd be shipping that one.

Amen to that - I still treasure my ailing and avidly annotated copy, which taught me much of what I
know.

EMRFD is impressive - but a wee bit scary ... Amazon keeps entreating me to re-sell it. NO WAY !

I picked up a copy on eBay recently for £2. The owner didn't know what they were selling. Well worth the years of wait for a copy. Matt m5evt.

I was lucky enough to find a copy of the book in a no name online book store and I got it for around 20usd years ago. along with IRFD and EMRFD they are still my top books. no matter the age, it is full of knowledge.

I will never let them go. I will ask to bury me with them!
