you should use schottky diodes when building dbm mixers!. try using
them for your next mixer and let the group know how you get on. best

Fast "analog switches", designed to switch computer bus signals, can be used to
make extremely good mixers - much better than diode ring DBMs! I don't know if
this is "old news" but Martein PA3AKE has made an impressive research in this
area and it is well documented on his web site:

I have tried 1N5711 and BAT83 (the last being cheaper and more readily
available in Brazil). Both with excellent results on 3.5 MHz, 7 MHz,
21 MHz and 28 MHz bands. 1N5711 should be better

hmm ...

... just had a look at the spectrum analyser pictures.
I could not believe that there is no relevant suppression of the LO
frequencies. Could there be a problem in the windings? I mean
winding direction or connecting wrong ends of the windings?
My feeling is that there must be at least 15dB of LO carrier
suppression for even the worst DBM??? Do you use ferrite cores
or iron powder cores (should be ferrite)???

Only a few thoughts...
