Still working on SA. 2nd mixer, Q201 2N5179. Data sheet shows pin out, but does not specify top view or bottom view. I even referenced the classic book RF Circuit Design by Chris Bowick, 1993, ISBN 0-672-21868-2, but it still does not make the definition clear in my mind.
Please advise,

Thank you

Hi Vince, if your referencing Wes' SA, double check the Schematic,  I believe your needing the pin out for a 2N5109, not 2N5179. Just Google 2N5109 datasheet and you'll  end up with some links you can click on and get the needed information....best of luck, John

2N5179;

Both are bottom-view; bottom-view seems fairly standard in my experience, although some data sheets give a three-dimensional view.

In the standard TO-39 case, the emitter is always next to the tab. If you have a 2N5179 and the case is grounded, That is obvious and the emitter is next to the ground pin.  The 2N5109 is the same without the ground pin.

The EIA standard is "2Nxxxx" and emitter-base-collector (EBC). But it is always helpful to check that in a transistor checker, available
