Hello,

I just found this group and joined immediately! :-)

It remains a mystery to me why class E amplifiers are not in more
widespread use in QRP CW transmitters. They are easy to build and can
have an amazing efficiency - important for "mountaineer" type of
equipment. I have used both MOSFETs and bipolar transistors with good
results in class E amplifiers designed for the HF bands (and for the
european 137 kHz LF band as well).

Is there anyone else experimenting with class E in this group?

Johan,

A more recent article is in the Jan/Feb 2004 QEX about class E/F Amps by
Taniguchi, Potter (KC6OKH) , and Rutledge (KN6EK), and FAR has the board.
The guys at Cal Tech were offering the 3/16" copper tape for the asking.
200W on 40m is a little more power than I usually run ;-)
