Hi need some info.I need to set the drive from my VFO to my SBL-1 mexer it should be +7dBm I found a chart on the Mini-Circuits web site and it tells me the voltage should be .500 volts, what I need to know is this rms or p to p thanks Chris

It is 0.5V rms when the load is a 50 Ohm load.  As P=V^2/R then 0.5^2/50 = 0.005 W which is 5mW which is +7 dBm. +7dBm        501.0mV        1.41V          5.00mW That's .5V rms and 1.41V peak to peak. Note if your off you'd be hard pressed to know the difference in performance  over a range of 4-10dBm. Allison

you need 0.7v if you are driving it with a sinewave. square wave needs lower value. how are you measuring it? the most accurate way is a spec an.  a less accurate way is thr w7zoi power meter. measuring with a scope will work as long as you have 50 ohm resistor across the cable _at_ _the_ _scope_end. next in line is a passive power meter which is basically a 50 ohms resistor with a diode rectifier across it. this needs to be carefully cailberated against a known rf source at all power levels. worst offender is a diode based RF probe. it is misleading instrument. - f ------ Original message------
